How to Care for Your Oobi Clothes (Because They're Pretty Amazing)
Tips to Keep Your Oobi Pieces Bright and Pretty
At Oobi, we create garments made for twirling, climbing trees, dancing through puddles and then being lovingly handed down to the next little adventurer. However, they do require some care to keep them looking bright and pretty, and here are a few simple tips to help them stay gorgeous for years to come.
Be Gentle, Be Kind
Oobi garments love a cold or warm machine wash using a mild detergent. Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach, oxidants, or brighteners as they can damage the beautiful colours and soft cottons we use.
Bright Colours? Add a Pinch of Salt
Some Oobi clothes are really bright (we love colour!) and that vibrancy might come from surface dyes. For their very first wash, add a teaspoon of salt to the cycle. This simple trick can help set the colour and prevent fading.
No Soaking, Please
We get it, life is busy and sometimes, the washing machine becomes a laundry prison. BUT try not to soak them for too long. They’ll thank you with vibrant colours and shape that lasts.
Dry with Care
Sunshine is great and we're here for sunny days, but it's not always the case for handprinted designs. If your Oobi garment is especially bright (which, let’s face it, most are!), it’s best to dry flat in the shade. Prolonged sunlight can cause prints to fade.
Warm Iron, Inside-Out
If ironing is needed, use a warm iron and always go inside-out to protect the fabric and the designs. Also, if your piece has special details like pom-poms, tulle, lace trims or beading, avoid ironing those areas. They are delicate and fabulous just the way they are.
For Extra Delicate Pieces
We recommend using a garment bag when washing items with extra special details like trims, tulle or embroidery. It keeps them safe during a spin and helps preserve their charm.
Made for Longevity, Not Landfill
Oobi clothes are designed for real life - whether it's playing, dancing, twirling, or making magical memories. They're also made to be handed down, and we’re proud that so many of our pieces have become treasures passed from sister to sister, cousin to cousin, and friend to friend.
Whenever we see photos of well-loved Oobi garments that still look amazing, it makes us very happy and proud!
